For one thing, we need progress and hope: we need to look forward to knowing something new tomorrow. The book explores beliefs about heaven from diverse perspectives--Catholic to Protestant, evangelical to New Age, Mormon, Jewish and others, all within the context of the historical narrative. Smith's contribution is a worthy addition to adynamic historical investigation, long overdue and currently s: 1.
Life in this fallen world is filled with suffering. Because of this, every Christian needs to learn how to suffer well. The following Christian books on suffering, grief, loss, and death will help you learn God’s view on suffering and be prepared when suffering enters your life. The apostle John saw the city of heaven and, unlike Paul, was told to write down what he saw. This is part of the book of Revelation, the spiritual vision of the end times and the coming of Christ. T his is without question the most thoroughly researched, biblically oriented publication on heaven. Alcorn shows how the new heaven and new earth reflect the culmination of God's original purpose Author: Paul Enns. Have to say this book was largely a page exercise in begging-the-question.
Alcorn begins by assuming that the New Jerusalem of Revelation and the New Heavens/New Earth of Isaiah describe the final state of heaven and then deduces virtually everything about heaven /5.
William Shakespeare observed that “the love of Heaven makes one heavenly,” and Thomas a Kempis said, “Let temporal things serve your use, but the eternal be the object of your desire.” C.S. Lewis summed it up this way: “Aim at Heaven and you will get earth.
Book Review: When Heaven Invades Earth, by Bill Johnson. Irenaeus observed, Their manner of acting is just as if one, when a beautiful image of a king has been constructed by some skilful artist out of precious jewels, should then take this likeness of a man all to pieces, should re-arrange the gems, and so fit them together as to make them.
The Second Book of Enoch, also written in the first century CE, describes the mystical ascent of the patriarch Enoch through a hierarchy of Ten Heavens. Enoch passes through the Garden of Eden in the Third Heaven on his way to meet the Lord face-to-face in the Tenth (chapter 22).

The apocryphal book 2 Enoch (written, perhaps, shortly before the fall of the Temple in AD 70) gives a great amount of detail. But the book can't be a true account, since it was written nearly years after the biblical Enoch was taken by God.
The story may have been adapted from Zoroastrianism. The last book in God’s archives is the single volume, called the “Book of Life.” Even at this judgment of the wicked, this book is the final answer of man’s eternal judgment.
Notice this statement, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 15) No doubts could be allowed. Daniel 10 speaks of the book of truth, Ezekiel receives a book from heaven to eat, Revelation mentions various books–the book only the Lamb can open, the book of life, the little book held by an angel, and so forth.

Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Matthew ). Presumably, we will read, study, contemplate, and discuss God’s Word. There are also other books in Heaven: “I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.
