WOW!!. This book was written in the late s, but it reads like it was written today!. Each chapter is a separate paper written by J.C. Ryle, some were sermons, all focused on SCRIPTURAL holiness/5. Packer's has written a semi-autobiographical long introduction (longer than Ryle's text, hence the title of the book I guess) to the first (considerably shorter than the second) edition of JC Ryle's classic 'Holiness'.
